Providence Catholic School, the only all-girls school for grades 6-12, is sponsored by the Congregation of Divine Providence. This sponsorship goes beyond a formal document and is real and personable. The Sisters always welcome the students to their home at Our Lady of the Lake Convent. On September 23, the Class of 2020 (first year high school students) attended their class retreat at the convent. CDP Archivist, Sister Charlotte Kitowski, Providence High School (PHS) graduate and former PHS teacher presented the Congregation’s 150th history. This is significant since this October 25th it will be 150 years since the first Superior General, Mother St. Andrew Feltin arrived in Texas. Since then, the CDP have ministered in over 1000 places that include schools, universities, parishes, hospitals, clinics, seminaries, dioceses.
Gracie Schultz was pleasantly surprised to find out that the origin of the CDP was in France. Iris Sweet was impressed with the many places and ministries of the Sisters. The girls now join the thousands of Provets who are more than impressed with the Sisters of Divine Providence. They are all honored to be part of this rich CDP history in the making!
