Sisters Christina Chavez, CDP and Melissa Cessac, CDP Renew Annual Vows

In a momentous event that brought joy to the Congregation, Sister Christina Chavez, CDP, and Sister Melissa Cessac, CDP, renewed their annual vows with the Sisters of Divine Providence yesterday. This renewal marks a milestone in their spiritual journey, with Sister Christina entering her 7th year of vows and Sister Melissa her 5th year.

Sister Christina currently serves as the San Angelo Diocese’s campus minister at the University of Texas Permian Basin and Midland College. Sister Melissa Cessac serves as the Director of Campus Ministry and Religion Teacher at Providence Catholic School in San Antonio, TX. Both Sisters play vital roles in guiding and nurturing the faith of young people, embodying the Congregation’s mission in their daily work.

The renewal of vows took place during the Congregation’s General Assembly, an annual gathering that holds significant importance for the Sisters of Divine Providence. The General Assembly is not just a meeting; it is a time for the Sisters to come together in prayer, witness each other’s faith, learn from shared experiences, connect deeply, and reflect on the role and responsibilities of the Congregation.

Sister Christina and Sister Melissa’s renewal of vows symbolizes not just a passage of time but a deepening of faith, service, and love. This event is momentous not only for the individual Sisters but for the entire Congregation. It serves as a reminder of the strength and resilience found in faith and community. The renewal of vows is a reaffirmation of the Sisters’ shared mission and their ongoing commitment to living out the values of the Congregation of Divine Providence.

The Sisters concluded the day with a Jubilee Banquet. Laughter, music, and heartfelt conversations filled the air as the Sisters enjoyed a time of fellowship and celebration. Celebrating the Jubilarians’ many years of dedicated service beautifully complemented the annual renewal of vows from Sisters Christina and Melissa earlier in the day.

Congratulations to Sister Christina Chavez, CDP, and Sister Melissa Cessac, CDP.
