Archives of the Congregation of
Divine Providence, San Antonio, Texas

The Archives of the Congregation of Divine Providence of San Antonio works to collect, preserve and make available significant, historical Congregational material for research.

The Congregational Archives opened with a decree of the Chapter of 1973. In 1990, the first complete policy document was approved by the Archival staff and the Congregation of Divine Providence Administration.

Preserved by the Sisters of the Congregation of Divine Providence, the Archives contains documents detailing the development of the Congregation as well as its mission, ministry and membership. Materials and records in the collection have been maintained and primarily date from the 1860s to the present. Documents open for research include:

  • Writings from and on Blessed John Martin Moye, Founder of the Congregation of Divine Providence
  • Histories of the Congregation’s missions and ministries
  • Biographical information including oral histories and works of more than a thousand vowed members of the Congregation
  • Congregation Publications: Family Circular, CDP Newsletter, CDP Times, Movements, Signs of Providence, What’s New, Bulletin Board
  • Sisters’ published books and music
  • Photographs, media clippings
  • Videos, CDs, recordings and digitally available materials

Materials do not circulate but are available for on-site use. Reproduction of and access to material are at the discretion of the archivist.
