About the history of the Congregation and our foundress

Pilgrims in Providence/Peregrinos en la Providencia book cover

Pilgrims in Providence: A history of the Texas Congregation of Divine Providence in Mexico,
Sister Mary Christine Morkovsky, CDP

Our sisters in the region requested this written history to have the opportunity to tell our stories and relate the history of our beginnings in Mexico. In this interesting historical narrative, I trust that you, the reader, will find that the paths of God are unexplainable. Providence uses many ways to carry out God’s plans.

Our story begins with the five of us. As young women, we were called without a clear understanding about the invitation that we were receiving. But the Lord knew what he wanted from us. The invitation we received was to prepare ourselves to be better catechists without the clarity of a call or vocation to the consecrated life.

Peregrinos en la Providencia: Reseña Histórica de la Congregación de Divina Providencia de Tejas en México
Sister Mary Christine Morkovsky, CDP

The Tattered Heart by Sister Diane Langford, CDPThe Tattered Heart   Sister Mary Diane Langford, CDP, chronicles the historical fiction biography of Mother St. Andrew Feltin, CDP foundress of the Sisters of Divine Providence. The detailed life of the earliest days of the Sisters of Divine Providence is richly and historically documented with accuracy and supported through detailed archival reference.   Sr. Diane details the hardships and realities of being a Texas pioneer, starting a religious order with little to no support of the Archdiocese of Texas, and her abrupt separation from the Catholic Church by a vindictive bishop.  (2007) $33.50

John Martin Moye: Shepherd of Untended Sheep by Raoul Plus, S.J.John Martin Moye: Shepherd of Untended Sheep  Religious ignorance and physical poverty pervaded the villages and towns of France in the eighteenth century.  During this period of spiritual apathy and treason, Father Moye appeared to enlighten the common people with divine truth and thrill them with love of God.  This account of his life and work, the first biography to appear in English, is a fascinating story of high courage and indomitable faith.  Author, Raoul Plus, S.J., creates a striking parallel between the work of Father Moye in China and the labors of St. Vincent de Paul in France.  Both gave of themselves to the constant preaching of the Word, to the formation of the clergy, to the relief of poverty, and to most tedious journeys where souls were to be saved.

Alfonso Navarro Castellanos, MSPS guide on how and to whom we should evangelize God’s omnipresent love.  Father Navarro’s book has a basic pattern of thought that not only brings the reader from the communities founded by the Apostles, but also stretches through an unknown future full of hope and love, enabling the reader to submit their life to Lord Jesus.
