Sisters of Divine Providence Participate in First Annual Vocation Rally
The Sisters of Divine Providence recently took part in the First Annual Vocation Rally, organized by the Diocese of San Angelo, held at the Way Retreat Center in Midland, Texas. The two-day event, which spanned Thursday evening and all day Friday, brought together about 300 middle school students from Catholic middle schools and evening religious education programs within the diocese.
This inspiring gathering aimed to introduce young students to the possibilities of Religious Life and Priesthood. Key speakers included Bishop Michael Sis of San Angelo, local priests, and members of two women’s religious congregations. The Sisters of Divine Providence were represented by Sr. Christina Chavez, Sr. Elsa Garcia, and Sr. Estela Tovar, alongside the Disciples of the Lord Jesus from Amarillo.
During the event, the Sisters addressed the entire group, answering general questions about religious life and focusing on the significance of Sisters, religious priests, and brothers, along with the unique charisms that guide their missions. In a special session held in the chapel exclusively for girls, the Sisters shared personal stories of their calling to religious life and discussed the profound impact of their vocations. The students eagerly engaged, asking numerous questions as their curiosity about the life and work of the Sisters grew.
The Vocation Rally concluded with a deeply moving Mass, celebrated by Bishop Sis and Fr. Ryan Rojo, the Diocesan Vocation Director. The event left a lasting impression on the students, encouraging reflection and openness to God’s call in their lives. The Sisters of Divine Providence were grateful to have been part of such a meaningful experience, nurturing faith and vocation awareness among young hearts.
